Book Review – Family of Fang and Claw by A.A. Peterson

Before I get into the review for this, I will say that this book has some situations within that are not for the faint of heart. There is a lengthy “trigger warning” at the very beginning, and I’d recommend taking a look at it and being prepared for the worst. While I wasn’t particularly bothered or affected by anything in the book, I don’t want anyone to have any sort of episodes because they weren’t prepared.

That being said, I gave his book five out of five stars. The stories contained within were disconnected enough to keep me guessing, but bound together enough to keep me entertained. I took an abnormally long time to read this book, and honestly, one of the biggest reasons why was because I didn’t want it to end. I absolutely loved it, and I could probably talk about it for much longer than anyone would want to listen. It was the perfect mix of twisted, sick, and demented, while still able to grab me by the heartstrings a few times and make me examine the weight of humanity and its faults. In one sentence, I’d have to say that this book was a wild ride from start to finish. And I mean that in the best possible way.

One of the most interesting things was the lore about the Family. It’s widely spread throughout the book, and honestly, I would read a full-length companion piece about that alone. Where they came from, how many Worlds they’ve been to and destroyed, and so on. I was fascinated by the Family and the air of mystery and superstition that went along with them.

After the book itself ends, the author gives an explantion of inspiration for each story, which I was also a pretty big fan of. Then, to put the icing on the cake, ther is a bonus story within titled “Making Deals With Devils.” This story was produced by the NoSleep Podcast (Season 9, episode 24), and it’s one of my personal favorite stories.
